{"id":1543,"date":"2024-06-16T20:48:09","date_gmt":"2024-06-16T20:48:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dailygreenhouse.com\/?p=1543"},"modified":"2024-06-16T20:48:11","modified_gmt":"2024-06-16T20:48:11","slug":"christian-bale-is-building-12-foster-homes-that-aim-to-keep-siblings-in-the-care-system-together","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/dailygreenhouse.com\/index.php\/2024\/06\/16\/christian-bale-is-building-12-foster-homes-that-aim-to-keep-siblings-in-the-care-system-together\/","title":{"rendered":"Christian Bale is building 12 foster homes that aim to keep siblings in the care system together"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>He\u2019s a real life Bruce Wayne<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christian Bale has unveiled plans to build 12 new foster homes with the aim of keeping siblings who are in care together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said he was left \u2018stunned and mad\u2019 about how many children were in care in California, and this has spurred his plans to build 12 new foster homes in the state, alongside two studio flats to help older children transition to living independently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0Batman\u00a0actor explained that the idea has been brewing in his head since the birth of his daughter back in 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI found myself trying to imagine what it would be like if we weren\u2019t around,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt the same time, I was doing all-night searches for what was going on in LA proper and where we could help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was stunned and mad to learn that we have more foster kids here than anywhere else in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was also kicking myself for not knowing that before so I thought, \u2018Well, this is it. Let\u2019s focus on this.\u2019 My wife and I decided that we were going to do everything we could in our power to change that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is said to have cost over \u00a317 million<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new village, which is located in Palmdale near Los Angeles, is set to cost $22m (\u00a317.5m) and be completed by 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 50-year-old said the project was \u201csomething absolutely new, totally transformative and something completely needed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He continued: \u201cImagine the absolute pain and the trauma of losing your parents or being torn from your parents, and then losing your brothers and sisters on top of that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s no way to treat kids. And so, we will be the hub for that. It\u2019s complicated and tough to help kids.
